Nessebar is located on a cliffy peninsula 850 m long and 300 m wide 37 to the north from Burgas. Nessebar is divided into two small parts: the New Nessebar adjoining the Sunny Beach resort with greater part of modern buildings and hotels located here, and the Old Nessebar located on an amazingly beautiful small peninsula. The town of Nessebar is one of the oldest towns of Europe with the population of around 10,000 people. It is the successor of an ancient Thracian settlement called Mesembria, which was founded in the second century AD. From the year 510 AD it was turned into a Greek colony.

Here golden beaches of the Black Sea coast separated by small dunes stretch to the south and to the north from the town, the cleanest transparent sea warms up to 25 degrees, while the unique landscape with sandy hills, white cliffs and rich vegetation refresh the eye. Besides, Nessebar is considered a unique museum town due to its history and architecture. The town is more than three thousand years old, and its architecture boggles imagination. Here there remained preserved 11 churches of the Byzantine period, cathedrals, fortesses, and numerous historical ruins bearing the impress of the ancient European culture. Small two to three storeyed houses, narrow paved streets - everything reflects historical value of the town, which was listed among the places of world cultural heritage under the protection of UNESCO.
Remarkable destinations of Nessebar are its mediaeval churches. There used to be 40 of them, but only some of them preserved. Structure and decorative elements of the churches date back to the 10-14th centuries, thus bringing them together in a group characterized by picturesque design of the facades. Wall ornament of each church represents unique harmony of stone, red brick, and colorful ceramic rosaces. Cruciform domed churches are represented by the Church of John the Forerunner, the Church of St. Michael and Gabriel the Archangels. The most stunning church in the town is the Cathedral of Saint Stephen, which was built on the site of an old Episcopal Church.
However, in terms of service level Nessebar is an up-to-date town corresponding to the high quality standards. You can stay in a hotel or within the private sector, drop by a supermarket, have dinner in a good restaurant, use an Internet cafe - this all does not leg behind other more expensive places of rest. Speaking about the prices: spending one’s vacation in Nessebar is quite inexpensive, for the prices for the tours, food, entertainment, and goods are quite low by the standards of Russia.
Among all the Bulgarian resorts Nessebar distinguishes itself by unique combination of heavenly natural conditions, cultural monuments, and the modern level of service.
