Kavarna is one of the relatively large cities located along the Bulgarian coast of the Black Sea. The population id 12,225 people; the berth accepts passenger and merchant ships of average size. The city is located at the distance of 48 km to the north from Varna and some 12 km from the picturesque Kaliakra cape. The shore to the north from the city is high and steep; it is formed by white limestone cliffs, while the southern shore represents an excellent beach.

Today Kavarna is a modern city, the centre of a large agricultural and industrial area with developed machinery, cattle breeding, winemaking, production of grain, etc. Sandy beach is surrounded by quiet bay, and within the picturesque area among the trees there can be found beautiful villas, hotels, and restaurants.
In the centre of the city nearby the berth there are several large restaurants offering sea food and traditional Bulgarian dishes. Small restaurants offer local dishes, pizza, spaghetti, etc. The prices are reasonable, while the products sold in grocery stores are cheap. Local merchants sell fresh fruits and vegetables. There are several rather small bars and shops in the city.
Kavarna is connected with Varna by means of a highway passing by Balchik. There are regular microbus and bus routes. You can use the services of local owners of boats to reach the nearby Balchik, Kaliakra cape, neighbouring villages and camping areas without spending much money.
